We have officially wrapped up a successful 2023 season here at Rockwood. We put the canoes in storage, and the cabins are shuttered for the long winter’s slumber.

Whether you are veterans or first-timers to Rockwood, the Gunflint Trail, and the Boundary Waters, we thank all of you for spending your precious vacation time with us.

We have lots of plans for 2024. We hope you are happy with them as we unveil them in the coming months!

During the quiet months of Winter, here are some things to keep in mind:

If you have a cabin reserved for 2024, deposits are due in November. Watch your email for a statement. If you don’t have your cabin booked for 2024, now is the time to get it done. We still have openings, but they are going fast.
Rockwood has one Winter cabin for rent, and we still have dates available in January, February, and March.
Permits for the BWCAW go on sale on January 31st at 9 a.m. CST.

Spring season starts on May 1st, 2024. Our bunkhouses will open just after the Minnesota fishing opener. Ice out has usually been just before the fishing opener. In 2023, our bay on Poplar Lake was ice-out on May 13, the first evening of the fishing opener! We’ll keep a running status of the 2024 ice out available on Rockwood’s webcam page.
Our cabins will start to open in mid-May, with all of them set to go before Memorial Day. We keep the cabin availability calendar on our website up-to-date, with nice photos and floorplans for each cabin.
We still have six canoes for sale: one solo Kevlar, four ultralight Kevlar tandem, and one Royalex tandem. Find them on our website.
